Aging in place – Bellingham!
CAPS is the acronym for Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist; it is the certification earned by those who have completed the Design/Build Solutions for Aging and Accessibility courses. The purpose is to educate builders and remodelers on how to meet the needs not only of the normally aging population, but also those who have a medical condition from a disease process or from traumatic injury. With the right information, a home can be remodeled to accommodate changing conditions for the homeowner.
Because Bellingham is beautifully situated on salt water, with the Cascades and Mount Baker close by, we have many very active seniors in our community. Even if you are a kayaker, skier or hiker, you should consider Aging-in-Place design when having your next bath or kitchen remodel done; it will provide peace of mind for the future, and has the advantage of accommodating everyone who might come to visit.
DyLon McClary, the owner of Rose Construction, Inc, is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). That means we can help you select the fixtures and features that will enable you to remain in your home for as long as possible. There are many safety features that can be designed into a bath or kitchen to make the home more user-friendly, no matter what your age or abilities!
