Remodeling your home brings big rewards
There are two kinds of rewards you can expect from upgrading your home; the one most of think of first is an increased value of our home; the next is a greatly increased enjoyment and satisfaction in our home.
Your personality type may decide which of these is more important to you, but both will factor into how and what you remodel in your home.
Modifications that substantially increase your homes value are converting an attic into a bedroom, and kitchen and bath remodels.
Replacing old elements, such as doors, windows and siding, in general bring a better financial return than bigger remodeling projects, such as additions. But updated kitchens and baths still bring a significant payoff, especially at resale time. Kitchen projects yield a higher return than bath projects, with a minor kitchen remodel adding about 82% of the project’s cost back to the home’s value. Kitchens are important, because would-be buyers often overestimate how much they would cost to update.
So, if you will be staying your home for some time, pleasing yourself will be more important than increasing the value of the home.
