How make a small house feel large
Trick the eye! Create an impression of expansiveness by floor to ceiling curtains, see through furnishings, strategically located mirrors, and light colors.
Customize storage with built-ins, even selecting furniture that has hidden storage. Have you ever been in a home with a breakfast nook that has storage hidden under the bench seats?
Exploit the often underutilized space between the top of furniture and the ceiling. Have the cabinets designed to go all the way to the ceiling. Install shelving that goes to the top.
Have a wall removed to enlarge the space by opening up one room into another. Replace small windows with larger ones, or replace solid doors with see-through glass to open up the visual space.
Don’t clutter the available space with too much. Keeping it simple will make the room feel larger.
Now, stop feeling cramped, and make the most of the square footage in that house!
