Decks need more than just railings!

Decks and patios are one of the reasons most of us prefer to live in a house instead of a condo; we can enjoy the outdoors right off the kitchen or other rooms that open onto the deck. So, now that you have a deck or patio, how to make it more pleasurable to be out there?

Decks benefit from a built-in bench, designed to be resilient to the weather. This allows you to walk out and sit anytime, without having to bring a chair! Having a roof built over part or all of the deck is a bonus as well, making the deck more pleasant no matter whether there is hot sun or cold rain.

We have had clients request a fireplace built on the deck, which is a great centerpiece for socializing. Nothing cozier than the warmth from a fire, and watching the flames.

For the ultimate in luxury, have an outdoor kitchen built on your deck or patio. There are many outdoor-rated appliances designed just for exposure to the elements. However, that partial roof would be advisable, and it extends the weather conditions where you can use your deck and outdoor kitchen.
