Thinking outside the box for kitchen cabinets
The traditional kitchen has upper and lower cabinets, and sometimes, if there is an island, more cabinets under the island. All of these are great, but there is a trend to replace some upper cabinets with shelves.
Shelves can make a room feel larger, as they add depth to a kitchen. One can show off favorite dishes and pottery, even special items brought back from trips to far off places.
The shelving can be attached with brackets or as “floating” shelves. Natural wood with stain and urethane finish look wonderful and provide a nice contrast with painted cabinets.
Another cabinet idea is to have frosted glass cabinet doors, so you can see inside the cabinet.
Some of our clients even requested an upper cabinet, but without the doors. So there are many ways to deal with wall cabinets!
