Why build a sun room?
Sunrooms are perfect additions to homes that are starved for sunlight. Typically less expensive than conventional additions, these built-ons offer more window space than wall space to bring in as much light as possible to one end of your home.
Sunrooms vary in their construction; some are basically a room added on, with lots of windows; some are conservatory style, meant for growing lots of plants, as well as relaxing.
Don’t forget, when a sunroom is built for your house, it will add to the cooling load for your air conditioner. Even the best windows can’t insulate as well as a 6 inch wall. Windows that open will help.
One homeowner we worked for, wanted a deck that was in the middle of the second floor, turned into a sun room. It turned out great! Here is a picture of the house after the construction:
