How to improve an existing kitchen
This depends on what it is that you don’t like about your kitchen. It could be poor design layout, badly matched materials, or hard to clean surfaces.
If the basic bones of your kitchen are not the problem, then it’s good to start with either replacing or resurfacing your cabinets; pick a door style and color that you like. Cabinets cover a lot of the wall space in a kitchen, and therefore have a big impact on how the room looks.
If lack of storage is a problem, you may want to take space from a room that backs onto the kitchen, and have a pantry built. If a pantry is not in the budget, installing pull out shelves in the existing lower cabinets are a great way to improve the storage available. You might find yourself using those cabinets more, if they are easier to access.
Countertops can get worn and hard to clean, have a new countertop and sink/ faucet installed, in your favorite colors and materials.
Update the lighting, have undercabinet lights installed and you may be tired of the existing ambient light fixtures – replace those with a style more to your liking.
This is only a brief list of things you can do to make that kitchen more functional and enjoyable. We love to help our Bellingham area neighbors update their kitchens and any other part of their homes!
