How to update your kitchen

When updating your kitchen, cabinets are one of the best ways to improve your kitchen. Kitchen cabinets take a lot of abuse on a daily basis and are often seen to be loose on their hinges, which gives the whole kitchen a dated and worn out look.

High end cabinets have solid wood drawers with dovetail joinery, that look good and last a long time. Veneered plywood, hardwood frames and solid wood doors are durable quality cabinets.

For the budget minded, there are cabinets made with engineered wood, hardboard, etc. If you have good quality cabinets, it’s a good idea to have them refinished and new hardware installed, rather than replace, unless the layout just doesn’t work for you.

Another way to make kitchen cabinets more useable is to have pull-outs installed in the lower cabinets, which essentially turns them into drawers. Its a great option to make it easier to store items way in the back and still have reasonable access.
