How to upgrade kitchen lighting
Kitchen lighting is important, due to the nature of food prep. Opening packages, cutting up vegetables or meat with a sharp knife, it’s important to have good lighting.
That said, we want to enjoy our kitchens, and lighting is more than functional; it can add style and ambiance to the room. Types of lighting include:
- Task lighting
- Pendants
- Kitchen chandeliers
- Wall lights
- Table lamps
One of our favorite task lighting solutions is undercabinet lights. They are invisible when not on, and provide light right where needed when preparing meals. They also function as mood lighting in early mornings and late evenings, when you really just want some light, but not the complete light available.
Pendants are popular over kitchen islands, and can add a stylish bit of color if you choose.
Chandeliers are wonderful when you have a high ceiling and an upscale kitchen.
Wall lights provide ambient light without flooding the room with bright light.
Table lamps supply just the right amount of light in a small area.
