Patios and decks are just the thing for summer!

If you prefer a patio, which is built at ground level, then you won’t need to refinish any decking material, nor will you need railings. The perfect patio might have a roof, to keep things cool during hot summer days, and allow you to use the patio even on rainy days. It can be fun to sit out, protected from the rain, and listen to the raindrops hitting the roof.

Decks are more common, perhaps because many houses have second floors, and it just seems like the right thing to do, to build a deck off that second floor. Many homes were/ are being built with the second floor being the main floor, with kitchen and living room located there. So that deck is convenient for bring snacks outside to sit. Also higher up can provide a nice view! Roofs still work, for decks as well as patios.
