Should you have a kitchen pantry installed?
A kitchen pantry can be a walk-in, cabinet, pull out or butlers pantry, and each type has its own pros and cons.
A pantry is a full sized room, with shelves top to bottom, drawers and racks. These spaces are great for storing a lot of items, but they will take up a lot of space, and can be far from the actual cooking area. You may not want to dedicate so much square footage to store food and cooking items.
Cabinet pantries are more popular, due to their smaller size. These compact space efficient cabinets work for more homes, as their footprint is relatively small.
You may not have thought of a pull out as a pantry, but depending on how large they are, they are pantries! They are best for smaller items, such as canned goods and spices.
A small space between the kitchen and dining area, a butlers pantry typically has a countertop, storage cabinets and a sink. It works well for several uses, such as coffee bar, wine storage and appliance storage.
So whether you want a kitchen pantry or not will depend on your cooking style, family size, size of home/ kitchen and your budget.
