What you should know about updating your kitchen
Even though your remodel may be inspired by thoughts of your dream kitchen, it’s important to keep in mind how user-friendly your changes may be. What are your specific storage needs, what type of cooking do you expect to do, and what will make it work for your family and lifestyle.
For example, if you often need to access a step stool to reach higher cabinets, then plan on storage for more items lower down, perhaps with some lower cabinet upgrades such as pull out drawers.
Here are a few items that are commonly overlooked and very aggravating in kitchen layouts; include tall, narrow storage for cookie sheets and cooling racks, strategically placed lights so that they light up areas where you will be working (like under the upper cabinets).
Be sure to get the type of sink and faucet you want; some prefer a deep, large single compartment sink, others like a 2 compartment sink with pull down faucet, and so on; the choices are nearly endless.
