When moving isn’t an option, how to update your home
Many homeowners find it more financially reasonable to put money into remodeling and customizing their home rather than taking on a large mortgage for a new home.
Remodeling allows a homeowner to meet their needs and preferences and increase their properties value.
Older homes often need an update for the kitchen; this can mean opening up the kitchen to dining area and living room, as well as replacing cabinets, flooring and countertops. Of course, not all needs to be done at the same time, but if replacing cabinets, it’s wise to have the flooring redone at the same time, as the new cabinets may not fit exactly on the same space.
The next place homeowners look for upgrades are the bathrooms. These often need work, as the moisture laden atmosphere ages painted areas and causes mold and mildew to grow in cracks and hard to clean areas. Be sure to have a new exhaust fan installed during the upgrade, as this will keep the room fresh and greatly reduce moisture damage.
