Koi pond bathroom floor
Tess Giulinai is an amazing designer. This is one photo of her own bathroom, taken from Kitchen and BathDesign; the floor is a unique limestone floor treatment that evokes images of serene blue water with koi fish and lotus leaves, hand painted by mural artist Omella Muth, the fish appear to “float” just below the surface.
Believe it or not, this is a small bathroom – less than 55 square feet.

There’s a very nice article with lots of pictures (my favorite source for inspiration) in the NKBA, National Kitchen and Bath Association website. It starts out with small bathrooms (and they really are small, this is not a misnomer) and proceeds on to larger baths.
There are some gorgeous small baths to look through for ideas. It is easy to design a nice large bathroom, but small ones, and especially those that are oddly shaped are challenging, to say the least.
